Best wishes for the Touch World Cup, Pete!

We’d like to wish our WSC Director of Sports, Peter McIntyre, his whānau and his NZ teams all the best for the upcoming Touch World Cup, which is being held in Nottingham, UK during the upcoming July school holidays.

Peter McIntyre is the Lead Coach for our New Zealand Open Women’s Touch Blacks team.  He will also be joined by his daughter – Assistant Coach Le Toia Tainui-McIntyre and his grand-daughter Skylah Tainui-Takerei (former Waiōrea tauira). This is the first time in the history of NZ Touch that three generations have held three key positions in the game.

Formally, Pete became the new coaching lead for the New Zealand Open Women’s programme in February 2022. You can read more about Pete’s appointment to the role here.

Peter and his whānau have a life-long love of Touch and the three generations standing together is a wonderful reward for all the passion, commitment and mahi they have given to the game. You can read more about their successes from our Alumni News here.

Pete’s son, Tiaan McIntyre (also former Waiōrea tauira), is also a member of the Open Men’s Touch Blacks team that will also be competing at the Touch World Cup.

We send our best wishes to Pete, Le Toia, Skylah and Tiaan, and their teams, for a safe trip over to the UK & a successful campaign.
