Donations/Fees

School Donations

Whanau invest in the future of their tauira by way of a donation to the kura. The pūtea received from donations assists the kura to provide for educational, cultural, sporting, social activities and health services that are not covered by government funding. We believe these activities and services are vital to providing the level of education expected of us.

Currently, the school donation is: $500 for one student or $600 for a family. You can pay via Kindo

We really appreciate the support you provide the school through payment of this donation.

Other School Costs

  • Subject costs
    • Some subjects have costs. The amount charged and purpose will be outlined in the beginning of the year invoice to whanau
  • NCEA exam fee
    • This cost is set by NZQA. Again this cost will be added to the student’s accounts at the start of the term
  • Extra/co curricular contributions eg Kapa Haka, Pūtaiao trip
    • For curriculum areas students will be asked to make a contribution
    • For voluntary activities eg Polyfest or school camp whanau are expected to meet their part of the cost for the campaign/activity
  • Sports fees eg Waka Ama
    • Whanau are expected to meet their part of the cost for the competition
    • Registrations costs for term competitions eg netball, basketball
    • Uniform costs are met by whanau
  • Waiōrea events eg prizegiving
    • Contributions to these events on the kura’s calendar
  • Waiōrea uniform costs – click here for more information

All of these are paid via KIndo and you will be invoiced both at the start and during the year, depending on the cost.

Waiōrea aims to operate a break-even budget by carefully managing its operating expenditure and supplementing this budget through facility hire, fundraising and grant applications, as appropriate.

However, if whanau find meeting these costs is a challenge we can offer support in a number of ways:

  • Payment plan
  • Partial payment
  • Equity funding

Please contact admin if you wish to discuss any of these options.
