2025 marked the 60th celebration year/Matariki celebration of Ngā Manu Korero – Tāmaki Ki Te Waitemata, with Ngā Puna o Waiōrea-Western Springs College hosting this prestigious national event on Friday, June 13th. This is a significant event in the calendar of the kura and Ngā Puna o Waiōrea were crowned the overall winners for the Tāmaki Ki Te Waitemata region!

The winners of each section will represent our rohe at the 60th National competition in Taranaki in September.

A huge acknowledgement of our Waīorea kaiako & whānau who worked with our speakers to prepare them & our whānau & kaimahi before, during & after the competition – you all made this event another huge success for our kura. Ngā mihi nui ki a koutou!

Pei Te Hurinui Jones – Senior Māori

  • Kaiaia Hawke – 1st Impromptu – Kōrero Tene (Ngā Tūmanako Trophy)
  • Kaiaia Hawke – 2nd Overall (Ach-Lee Fong Memorial Trophy)
