Week 8 of Term 1 was a busy, but successful, one for all of our Ngā Puna o Waiōrea (NPoW) ākonga, kaiako, tutors and whānau involved in the Polyfest 2024 Māori Stage Competition, which was held at the Manukau Sports Bowl on 20th-23rd March 2024. This year, ASB Polyfest celebrated its 49th year and the theme/kaupapa for 2024 was “Me anga whakamuri kia koke whakamua” or “looking to our past to determine our future“.
NPoW had a three competitive teams and one non-competitive team entered this year:
- O Rehu performed in Division 3;
- Ngā Oho performed in Division 2;
- The non-competitive group (Whakangahau) performed in the lunch break;
- Waiōrea performed in Division 1.
Final results were O Rehu placing 3rd in Division 3, Ngā Oho placing 1st in Division 2, and Waiōrea placing 1st in Division 1 – KA RAWE!!!
Ka nui te mihi ki a koutou i tō koutou āwhina, i tō koutou tautoko i te ASB Polyfest i mua atu nei. Kei te mihi tonu atu mātou ki ngā ringaringa me ngā waewae i ora ai tō tātou ahurea Māori. E kongange ana te ahi whitawhita, kua ngākau titikaha i a koutou e te whānau whānui o Ngā Puna o Waiōrea, e te Whare Tapere o Te Rehu!
E pupū ana hoki, e wauwau ana hoki. Tārewa tū ki te rangi. Kia eke Tangaroa kia eke Panuku Whano, whano, haramai te toki. Haumi e, hui e, taiki e!
