Like most sports, it’s been a difficult year for Orienteering with most events postponed or cancelled. And so it was to the credit of the organising Counties Manukau Orienteering Club that they finally managed to hold this event after two previous postponements. It was a lovely weekend to be outside, with a good number of participants attending the Sprint race held at Tuakau College, and the Long Distance in Waiuku forest. The small Western Springs team did very well with all members standing on the podium during the two days. The results were as follows:

Juliet Frater (Intermediate Girls Championship Grade)
– Sprint – mis-punched, Long distance third place

Isobel McIlroy (Intermediate Girls Standard Grade)
– Sprint 16th, Long distance third place

Eli Robinson Gomas (Intermediate Boys Standard Grade)
– Sprint – not competing, Long distance first place

Charlie Frater (Junior Boys Championship Grade)
– Sprint 4th place, Long distance 3rd place.
