Love to Ride is a nationwide promotion/competition that aims to get companies and institutions on their bikes during the month of February. Our staff recognises the importance of role modelling good practice around transport. We already have a handful of riders rain-hail-or-snow and plenty of others who are semiregular. But we certainly stepped it up for Bike Month this year.
So, despite having a fancy new car park, we achieved 23% of staff riding, in some way, during the month. We managed to save our environment from over 600kg of CO2 from using bikes for commuting. All up, we got really into it. We were pushed on by some close competition (particularly from Christchurch and Wellington schools), but managed to edge in front for the Win – Top School in the country.
If we measure ourselves against other industries in Auckland of similar size, we make the top 3 – Jasmax, the architects of our new buildings, took top stop in our category.
