An enthusiastic group of students from year 10 to 12 attended the Peace Ambassadors Training Day in April. Ali and Andrea from the Peace Foundation came to teach us about dealing with conflict in a peaceful way, sorting stuff out with family and friends, and communicating effectively. It was a fun day with lots of activities, and everyone came away with new ideas and information.
In June we had a ‘decorate your own cupcake’ sale to raise money for Shine. Every year we support Shine because of the great work they do for young people who are facing violence at home. It was a fun event which supported a good cause!
On 26th June six of our members went to the Secondary Schools’ Peace Symposium. This year it was held at AUT in the city, and the theme was ‘Peace and Technology’. Some excellent speakers helped us understand how we can use technology in a positive way.
It’s great to have an enthusiastic team of students involved this year. Our next goal is to get involved in voluntary work in the community, so watch this space!
