Happy New Year to all of our Springs-Waiōrea community!
I hope that you all enjoyed the Christmas/New Year period with your family and friends, and that you’ve been enjoying the brilliant weather!
As I said in my Junior prizegiving address: “students, as you leave here today, think of how lucky you are to be a young New Zealander enjoying the delights of a long summer holiday. Do take the time to be a kiwi kid in paradise. Enjoy the golden weather and long may it last!”
Upon reflection on our end-of-year prizegivings – what a pleasure it was to witness the roll call of prizewinners walking across the stage to receive recognition for their outstanding work in 2023.
From the Year 13 Leaver’s awards and special prizes, through to the Year 12, Year 11, Year 9 and 10 (combined) with over 900 people in the gym; the Sports Awards; the Pasifika event and the Waiōrea prizegiving, I was struck by the confidence of our presenters, the quality of our prizewinners work and the recognition of application and progress as well as overall achievement. Well done to you all!
A reminder too that Springs/Waiōrea is closed until January 19th, 2024 and the school office will reopen on Wednesday January 24th, 2024.
Best wishes for 2024!
