Dance, Drama & PAT Technician

We are seeking a friendly, organised & creative person to take on the role of Dance, Drama & Performing Arts Technology (PAT) Technician in a permanent, part-time position (6 hours per week; term-time only) at Western Springs College-Ngā Puna O Waiōrea, beginning from Tuesday 27 January 2026 (start of Term 1).

Applicants should have a clean NZ Driver’s Licence, and appointment is subject to a satisfactory Police vetting application & safety check.

WSCW is a Living Wage employer, and the terms & conditions of employment are in accordance with the Support Staff in Schools Collective Agreement. The pay range (per hour) for these positions will be between $27.80 (Living Wage rate) and $31.00, depending on the successful applicants’ skills & experience.

You must be eligible to work in Aotearoa New Zealand, and appointment is subject to a satisfactory NZ Police vetting application and safety check.

KEY TASKS

Equipment sourced, maintained, repaired and stored

  • Drama and Dance costumes sewn, sourced, laundered, repaired, labelled and put away.
  • Costumes collected from off-site storage.
  • Set & props retrieved, repaired and put away/dismantled.

Administration

  • Managing rehearsal & production schedules for co-curricular and the 6 annual Dance and Drama shows.
  • Data entry for festivals/competitions (e.g. Sheilah Winn, YouDance).
  • Cataloguing audio-visual material from shows.
  • Coordinating volunteers for shows & trips (e.g. parents, teachers and Parent Action Group [PAG]).

Marketing

  • Use of social media & other platforms to promote Dance & Drama activities within and beyond the school community.

Waiōra (Student Services) Receptionist

We are seeking a friendly & calm member of our community to become our permanent, part-time Receptionist in our Student Services Centre (Waiōra), working Monday to Friday from 9:00am to 3:30pm.

As you will be working with our students/tauira, you will need to be police vetted & a Confidentiality Agreement will also need to be signed.

The pay range (per hour) for these positions will be between $27.80 (Living Wage rate) and $31.00, depending on the successful applicants’ skills & experience.

Some of the key tasks that you will be asked to perform include:

  • getting students from class for appointments with our school Nurse, Physiotherapist or Guidance Counsellors;
  • greeting all external services that come in to meet with students;
  • monitoring and processing all students who come to Waiōra (including checking notes given to students);
  • assess students for minor problems, if the clinic is very busy;
  • triaging the most important cases for the Nurse or Counsellors;
  • keeping the clinic tidy (including doing dishes);
