Western Springs College-Ngā Puna O Waiōrea (WSCW) is seeking a committed and compassionate Inclusive Learning Assistant (ILA)/Teacher Aide to join our school in a permanent, part-time position (9am to 3:10pm, 5 days per Week, Total Hours 27.5 with lunch times deducted).

The ILA role is integral to supporting this inclusive culture and to enabling students with diverse learning needs to fully access learning.

As an ILA, you will work alongside classroom teachers and the Learning Support team to support students within mainstream classrooms and in our Learning Support area. In addition, you will assist students to engage with learning, develop independence and experience success, while contributing positively to an inclusive and culturally responsive school environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supporting students in class by reinforcing teacher instructions.
  • Work with students who have a range of learning needs, including dyslexia, autism, processing difficulties and behavioural needs.
  • Demonstrate culturally responsive practice aligned with Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
  • Build strong, respectful and positive relationships with students.
  • Work collaboratively with subject teachers and the Learning Support team to support individual student programmes.
  • Assist in Learning Support, including supporting differentiated programmes and maintaining student progress records.
  • Support students under Special Assessment Conditions (SAC), including acting as a reader or writer following training.
  • Uphold school values, procedures and health and safety expectations at all times.
  • Using Google Suite and Google Classroom confidently.
  • Complete required administration, daily reporting and self-appraisal documentation.
  • Attend professional development as required.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • Some students may require personal care support & training will be provided, as required.
  • All contact with parents and whānau is managed through teaching staff.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a satisfactory Police vetting application & safety check.
  • Start date will be negotiated with the successful candidate.
