Archery

Congratulations to our Year 13 archer, Jacob Schaffer, who has been selected to compete in the Trans-Tasman competition in Christchurch on 25-30 September. Jacob will compete in the Open Men Barebow event. The Trans-Tasman is a head-to-head competition between Australia and NZ, held every two years. It is considered the first step in International competitions for our Youth archers.

In addition, Franke-Su Ahkit (Y11) was also selected to participate in this Trans-Tasman competition, but withdrew due to personal reasons.

 

 

Basketball

Congratulations to our Y10 NPoW tauira, Hawk Kaulima, who recently represented Basketball Auckland (U16 Girls) at the Nationals tournament held in Wellington in the first week of July in the school holidays.

Rugby League

Two of our NPoW tauira – Essence Smith (Ngāti Tuheke-Te Ahiwaru) & Gus Poi (Waikato Tainui-Te Arawa) – were part of a group of four Year 12 students who were recently chosen to represent the One New Zealand Warriors at the NRL’s 2025 Indigenous Youth Summit 2025, held on the Central Coast in early August.

Essence & Gus joined 64 other pupils (four nominated by each of the NRL’s other 16 clubs) for this annual NRL initiative, which celebrates and empowers the next generation of Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander and Māori leaders.

Taekwon-Do

Congratulations to our Year 13 WSC student, Gladys Sudyatmiko, who received 2 gold medals from sparring and pattern category at the Taipei Open Taekwon-Do Tournament held in Taiwan on June 28th, 2025. This tournament is organised by the International Taekwon-Do Chinese Taipei Association and is open to all Taekwondo practitioners.

   

Waka Ama

Congratulations to our Year 13 NPoW tauira, Rehutai Appleyard, who represented Aotearoa New Zealand at Te Aito Tahiti 2025 – the World Championships of V1. Rehutai competed in the Open Category of the Super Aito Sprite Channel Race and Rehutai was placed 7th in the world – a fantastic achievement! Ka rawe Rehutai!

Alumni News

Congratulations to our NPoW-WSC tauira (2020-2023), Skylah Tainui-Takerei was recently awarded the 2025 Most Valuble Player (MVP) award for the Central Manawa Netball team. Congratulations on this fantastic achievement, Skylah! Best wishes for the future!
