In a proud and historic moment, Aotearoa New Zealand has reclaimed the Guinness World Record…
Extended Seasonal Greetings
Although the year is drawing to a close, it is worth noting the number of Visual Arts displays that have occurred in the last couple of months. With the shift in covid restrictions – we were finally able to celebrate the success of our senior Art students with the Media and Technology departments in KHCL at our annual Art, Media and Technology Exhibition on Wednesday 2nd November. The event was well received and heralded as a triumph by the school community as it coincided with the Y13 Prizegiving evening and was generously supported by the PAG community through nibbles and drinks. Students were also represented in the recent Junior Arts Festival at TAPAC on Wednesday 7th December – another successful highlight representing the diverse range of talent emerging from the Y9 and Y10 classes. Selections of the Visual Arts will also be on display during Junior Prizegiving to further promote and celebrate the Junior programmes.
Lastly, on behalf of the department – I would like to wish Kirsty Britton Taylor all the best as she embarks on a year of maternity leave. Kirsty has been our TIC Art Design and Assistant HOD Art, as well as developing the role of Arts Coordinator for a number of years. Although we will miss her humour, tenacious work ethic and unwavering collegial support – I know she will relish the joys and challenges of childcare with the same effervescent energy that she brings to teaching.
Lastly, to all of the students – stay safe over the holiday break and we look forward to welcoming you back to school next year.
Ia Manuia HOD Art – Lily Laita
