For 2026, Western Springs College will accept enrolments for students in Year 9 or Year…

Kia ora e te whānau,
This term, there will be an election and selection for the Western Springs College-Ngā Puna O Waiōrea (WSC-NPoW) School Board. These elections and selections happen every 18 months.
Our co-governance constitution means that we have positions on our school board for both Ngā Puna O Waiōrea and Kura Auraki, our English medium pathway. The method of selecting those positions differs and is set out in our constitution.
Kura Auraki – English medium pathway
Three of the five parent-elected positions on the Board for the English medium pathway are up for election in this round.
Parents of current English medium students vote in the election to determine who will take up those three positions. Voting is easy and we encourage everyone to participate and have a voice in the future direction of your learners’ school.
Ngā Puna O Waiōrea pathway
Two of the whānau selected positions on the Board are up for selection in this round.
Whānau of current NPoW ākonga participate in a whānau hui to select the people who will take up the positions. We encourage everyone to participate and have a voice in the future direction of your kura.
What does your school board do?
School Board members work together to make sure every student at our school and kura reach their highest possible standard of educational achievement. We set the educational goals and direction of our school and kura, monitor progress, decide how our funding will be spent and oversee the management of staff, property, finances, curriculum, health and safety and administration. It is our role to govern, and to seek assurance from the Principal and Tumuaki that our school is well managed and that our tauira progress and achieve.
Who can be a School Board member?
You do not need to be a parent to stand for a position on the school board; however, a parent or caregiver must nominate.
School Board members do not need any particular skills or experience. What is most important is for our members to be passionate about educational achievement. School Boards should reflect the diverse communities they represent.
