Kia ora Springs-Waiorea (WSCW) whānau, below are the key dates for Term 4, 2024 for…
Tough game against Mt Roskill who coming into the game we knew very little about except that they have had two warm up games against two teams from the Top Premier Grade – Avondale and Pakuranga. Mt Roskill beat Avondale by 30pts and they beat Pakuranga by 20pts.
The game was tight the whole way through. It could have gone either way. Mt Roskill had a larger crowd of supporters than Springs. The atmosphere was electric and the game was intense.
Mt Roskill led coming out of the gate. But Springs fought back to take the lead in the second quarter. End of the third quarter Mt Roskill were up by 3pts, Springs were behind going into the last quarter. The last quarter was the longest 10mins of my life. Springs were in foul trouble, two of our starters fouled out with one minute to go. Springs were in the lead by 4pts. They managed to hold the lead right until the very end where in the last 15 seconds the baby of the team, Riley Fong, intercepted a pass in by Mt Roskill as well as on the next pass in by Roskill. Riley stole the ball and held it to cement that win for us.
Top scorers – Thomas Clayton 30pts, Wodji Coulibaly 23pts, Te Rangi 14pts.
The best game I’ve watched in a long time!!
