In a proud and historic moment, Aotearoa New Zealand has reclaimed the Guinness World Record…
A huge CONGRATULATIONS to Grace Cory-Wright (Year 10 student from Moana House) who was selected in the New Zealand Secondary Schools Orienteering Team. Grace participated in the Australian Schools Championships on 26-28 September 2022.
The championships were held in rural area Victoria between Melbourne and Bendigo as part of the Australian Championships carnival.
There were teams from each of the states in Australia (7 teams) and 2 NZ teams. The NZ teams were from all over the country and are selected so that the teams are of equal ability. There are 20 students in each team with 5 each of junior boys/girls and senior boys/girls.
The 2 NZ teams (one called Team Karahiwi and Team Harua) took out 1st and 2nd place and New South Wales were 3rd. It was close and made the results from the last relay race very exciting!
Grace’s best result was 6th junior girl in the long format race on Tuesday – well done Grace!
Thanks to Grace’s mum, Mary, who kept us informed and shared some of these photos.
