Literacy and Numeracy at WSC

To ensure our students are meeting their potential as writers and problem solvers, hardcopy checklists will be made available to all junior students in 2025.  These may look a little different depending on your child’s subject, but will aim to facilitate process writing and problem solving across our learning areas.

These checklists will also align with the literacy and numeracy skills required to achieve NCEA literacy and numeracy, and are part of a coordinated response across various groups in the school to further facilitate learning of these critical skills. As with all your child’s learning, we appreciate the time and effort whānau make in discussing literacy and numeracy learning at home.

Next year, keep an eye out for the writing and numeracy checklists, and ask your child how they are applying them in order to enhance their learning!
