Library week was huge this year. We had hundreds of free books given away, dress-up…

Kia ora koutou and warmest greetings from the team in Visual Arts.
We are heading into Spring and the busiest time of our year for senior students who really are starting to ‘live’ in the Art rooms as they track towards end of year term four deadlines.
As a department we recently enjoyed meeting with whānau at the Matariki Careers evening and have been talking through subject choices with students in classes in support of the new school year. There is information to support decision-making available on the school website and we encourage all students with queries to visit us in the Art Department Office in Rangitoto, Level 1, KHCL.
We have had several students succeed within the wider Arts community recently and we would like to celebrate their achievements. Congratulations Ana Croucher, Christie Blair and Jacob Schaffer who are finalists in the 2025 National Secondary School Art Awards. The exhibition of finalist artworks is on display at the Arts House Trust, 11 September – 19 October. Special thanks to Sophie Bannan for your encouragement and supporting them in the application process.
