Te Ahurea Tino Rangatiratanga is a significant Māori Performing Arts event for Auckland Secondary Schools.…
In Term 3 of 2023, Springs-Waiōrea are offering students the opportunity to take part in a weekly workshop run by well-known Celebrity Treasure Island contestant & Shortland Street actor and motivational coach, Lynette Forday.
Lynette became a household name on New Zealand television and was a pioneer in getting a minority face into the mainstream media. Her passion lies in helping young people believe that they are enough, that they are extraordinary and that they can take on the world no matter what.
Lynette grew up being the minority in the playground and knows from her childhood the importance of feeling enough and having the skills to stand up and be heard and to have somewhere where they feel they belong at lunchtime.
Meeting once a week at lunchtime, there will be drama games, scriptwork, body language awareness and public speaking, all in the name of creating a fun safe environment where kids can share with one another their experiences, and grow to their full potential no matter what challenges life has thrown them or will throw them in their future. If a child believes in themselves, they can and will conquer the world.
The workshops run at lunchtime every Thursday and start the first week of term (July 20), and the cost is $150 for the 10-week workshop.
By design each group is kept small. If you think your youngster will benefit from being part of this group please get in touch with Lynette at ljforday@icloud.com
Note: these workshops ran at WSCW last year and also currently run in some of our contributing intermediate schools.
