Taku Manu Kākātarahae, Taku Manu Taiko, Taku Manu Kōrero e.
Ngā Manu Kōrero is regarded as the most significant event on the Māori education calendar for nurturing the oratory skills and providing the stage for young people/rangatahi to express their views and to lay down their challenges to an admiring and critical audience of peers, parents, whānau and judges.
Ngā Manu Kōrero Tamaki ki Waitematā was held at Ngāti Whātua Orakei Marae this year and Ngā Puna o Waiōrea was proudly represented by the following students:
- Orini Ngatipa, Pei Te Hurinui Jones, Senior Māori – 2nd Place, Best Senior Female Speaker.
- Nikau Balme – Korimako, Senior English 1st Place.
- Raukura Makoare, Te Rawhiti Ihaka, Junior Māori – 2nd Place, Best Junior Female Speaker.
- Milan Moala – Tā Turi Carroll, Junior English.

Their hard work and diligence were evident in their performances on the day and Ngā Puna o Waiōrea congratulates you on your endeavours. To our host kura Te Kura Kaupapa Māori o Hoani Waititi Marae, Te Kura Kaupapa Māori o Te Kotuku, Te Puna o Wairaka and Ngā Puna o Waiōrea a BIG THANK YOU for making this event possible for students within the Tamaki ki Waitematā rohe and providing kura with the opportunity to send students through to the National Ngā Manu Kōrero.
To all the kaiako and whānau that helped with speeches, a huge mihi goes out to everyone who was involved.
