Amelie Fairclough (Y13) was selected in December last year to be in the NZ Secondary Schools touring athletics squad to complete in the televised Classic Competitions in NZ in January to March 2023 (including the Potts Classic in Hawkes Bay, the Cooks Classic in Whanganui, and the Sir Graham Douglas Classic in Auckland – held at the Trust Stadium after school on 16 March 2023). She has also been selected in a NZ Under 20 Development Squad to compete for Auckland at the Australian Track and Field Championships in Brisbane at the end of March.
Last weekend, at the age of 17, came second in the NZ Track and Field Championships U20(!) women’s 400m final on Sunday (with a new PB of 55.64 seconds), then lead the Auckland U20 4 x 400m squad to Gold.
