The Near West A history of Grey Lynn, Arch Hill and Westmere Tania Mace Place…
We are excited to announce that we are up and running – 136 photovoltaic solar panels are generating solar power for Spring – Waiōrea and will be doing so for the next 50 plus years. The panels were installed over the summer break onto the Ken Havill Centre for Learning.
This fantastic achievement has been made possible by a very supportive community. The project was almost entirely community funded with individual families, alumni, staff and local businesses donating the majority of panels. Thanks also goes to Mercury, The Lion Foundation and the Waitematā Local Board who all supported us with donations.
We are currently working with students to get our Solar Kiosk up and running. This will display a range of live and historic data of the solar power being generated, which will be displayed on a big screen monitor/s.
Springs – Waiōrea are enthusiastic about funding a 2nd solar array, so if this inspires you, you might like to donate a panel or consider joining the funding team. Please contact Paula on marxp@wsc.school.nz if this is of interest to you.
